New York

New York

A couple of friends came over to New York for a visit so we went up to spend a long weekend with them.  Not being a city fan, I did not like the noise, the smells or the constant hurry, however we did have a good time as the photos below attest:

The view from our hotel window was good,  The empire state building is impressive. we were fifteen floors up so it was also quiet.

All over the roofs were these little water towers.  I can only assume they are kept for heritage purposes.  They did break up the monotonous concrete well.

Of course we had to see the Statue of liberty, wonder what she thinks of Donald Trump? Nicola looks as if she is about to sing 'keep the red flag flying' thankfully she refrained and we were able to continue.

My favourite of the weekend. This is the pub where Washington gave his retirement speech at the end of the Revolutionary War.  We had a good look around the museum and tasted the pubs own craft beer.

Military discount came in useful again as we went to the top of the empire state building at night and took in the view.

Nice t tick of the list of places we have visited but I can live without going there again.
